Hi Nella,
 Alpacas eat orchard grass hay (1 flake) and about 2 cups of grain per day.
Their wool or "fleece/fiber" as we call it is very soft, usally long - 5" per year
and crimpy. It makes wonderful clothing that is hypo allergenic and non scratchy
and is great for baby clothes or clothing around your neck, skin since it doesn't scratch.
They are pretty easy to care for. Just some worming shots periodically and nail trimming and shearing once a year. Hot for Az. but some farms are there.
Alpacas love the cold so do alot better in the north and there are alot of farms there.
  I just sold two pet quality boys yesterday and now I'm sad. It's hard to let them go.
They are so personable.
