[Ag-eq] Out House

Hi, All! Peg from Iowa here! Have been enjoying the conversation here and I would like to tell you all that if you wwere to take training at a National Federation of the Blind training center, you would basically be required to run chain saws, cut with saws, learn to mark and measure, and putting all of these together wheere you would build something that you would like in your house out of wood! If you have usable vision, you are blindfolded and guided at YOUR pace until you are comfortable at handling the saws! No parent theree, no spouse there to fret and freak out at what they feel is an impossibility for a blind person to do! Don't let their fears convince you that you can't do this as you can! If you feel that a blind person can do anything a sighted person can do with the proper training and equippment, except to drive a car and that is in the forseeable future if you read all the N.F.B. news out there, then you ARE an N.F.B. minded person! Most of you cook. If you can cook a meal without burning yourself every time you get near the stove then you can run a chainsaw, a jack hammer4, etc! Maybe your local state departments for the blind have programs that offer shop, home ec, travel, computer, etc. Check to see that these are programs that teach full inclusion and immersion onto doing these. If not, theree is a way that your state will pay an N.F.B. center in another state that will give you the program that you desire! I know on their recreation time the centers do rock climbing, yes, horseback riding, skiing, etc! I, unfortunately, did not attend an N.F.B. center but being in Iowa, which ALL N.F.B. centers are modeled after, as a student there, I arranged twice to go riding at a horse park near by where those who didn't want to ride went golfing! I missed my horses and since I wasn't close to my home to ride them, I had to compromise riding their horses! It was sooo much fun and they even gave me a lively black snorting gelding that I just delighted in! By all means, if you can take time to attend an N.F.B. center as you are being oppressed by family and friends, I highly reccomend the experience! For the outhouse thing. Windchimes could work, different sounding ones. Mayve a radio blaring. Different genres for different buildings? Anybody have any other suggestions for this?
