. It's not the honey bees that bother me it's those darn German Hornets, or
commonly known as yellow jackets. I'm kind of allergic to those buggers, and
they swarm wherever food is around. the are aggressive too. naturally,
there is tons of them at the farmers markets, and i usually get bit and then
I swell up like crazy and it takes over a week for the swelling to subside.
We have a couple of friends that bring hives out here to polinate. . I don't
know if I'd want to do honey, but I like having those honey bees around. If
you don't bother them they generally won't bother you.

David is quite the bee charmer as he can go over to the hives and not get
stung. I like to where the gear though if I have to deal with them. We have
a large paper wasp nest way up in one of our appletrees and I do have
respect for those awful things as they can sting multiple times. David
disturbed the nest with a tree pruner the other day, and he knocked out the
nest and then ran like hell. He had a bunch chasing hihm. so, my dog was
lazily dozing off on the porch, he snapped to attention when they came, but
he just opens his mouth and eats them. I've not seen him ever stung. he is
the best bee catcher.
Last night we had asoft frost which doesn't help the asparagus. We scrambled
to get all the outside potted plants in and we covered up some of the
berries.

there is some kind of disease around here that threatens the honey crop and
a few of our honey vendors have lost thousands of hives.
