Hi Peg, yes I do know of the N F B and there good work.. I will say that I have not been a good member I have thought about getting involved a making friends a having a good time. when I have dong to some N F B things I always have a good time. So I do think I should give them a try again.
When I was a kid I didn't do things the way a the blind kids did. I have quite alot of site and I use it. I do not use a cane or a dog, I went to regular school, I felt that I had site I should use it. Not dissing the blind people. Some of it was how we were raised. I can not read braille ether. Maybe it was not the best thing to have dun, and I should have tried to get in tutch with my blind side but I think I was trying so hard to be "normal" that I was an out cast in both worlds.
I have thought that I need to get more involved and see how the other half lives. Since I have stared school have gotten to work with some of the aids to help me read and it is kind of cool.
So with luck I will get with my local chapter and then next year I can go to national convention an meat some real fun people.
Barb

Hi, Barb! This group is a branch of the National Federation of the Blind's Agriculture and Equine division. It is open to anyone and there are people who regularly contribute to this list who belong to both the National Federation of the Blind and the American Council of the Blind. And those who belong to neither group! It is open to everyone and anyone interested in agriculture and the equine world! N.F.B. is notorious for fighting for the rights of blind individuals in such predicaments with many successful outcomes! Contact your local state chapter of the N.F.B. and get started. N.F.B. seems to be in a neverending loop of being in litigation for the rights of ALL blind people! I'm N.F.B. and I have a veery close friend who is A.C.B. We neever talk politics when together but there is one thing that we both agree on and that is that you need to belong to one or the other as a blind person coz you never know when the time will come when you will need them to help fight for your rights down the road! This person has confided in me saying that N.F.B. does a much better job of this! Good examples of this is Newsline for the Blind, thanks to the N.F.B.; book reading device, thanks to the N.F.B in collaberation with major companies; K-N.F.B. cellphone readeer, thanks to the N.F.B. and Kurszweihll company; and had I been in Dallas for the national convention, I may have had a chance to drive, yes, I said drive the first driveable car for the blind which in a few short years will be available for blind people to be independantly able to drive a car! Once agdain, thanks to the N.F.B. and those working in creating and finalizing this car! Many don't feel belonging to a blind consumer group is for them, I beg to differ and am gled that I belong to such a wonderful organization! Peg in Iowa

> Hi you guys, I am in my first quoter of the vet tech program up here and it is kind of clear by a couple of people that they are not happy with me and don't really want to help.

I told her I needed to know so I could see if I can find a way to make it work for me. the only thing she said was that if I could not do microscope work then I can not be a vet tech and going to school would not be worth it. OK, I asked her about the high power microscopes and if they would be OK for me to get. I made it clear that the school would not be hold responsible for the cost. She just said, if you can't do the microscope work then you can't be a vet tech.

If I ask her something she will say things like well you should know that and sorry I can't help you. I do notice that the students who show the most promise are the ones that get the most attention. I have seen both of them acted with impatience with a couple of girls that are all so not at the top of the class. She is the kind of person gets mad at me for doing something and then doesn't say anything to the next one that does it.
