Barb:

Some NFB people might disagree with me, but I don't think there's anything 
wrong with using your vision.  However, it is good to know alternative 
techniques for the times you can't rely on your vision.  I've worked in the 
field of blindness for 5 years now and know that people will use their 
vision as long as possible.

You might want to consider one of the NFB training centers if you feel you 
need to learn more blindness skills.  The training centers also teach you to 
advocate for yourself and help with confidence and self esteem.

Getting involved with your local chapter would be a good start.
