I did casual riding until I began losing sight. I have met some horse people
and instructors. They seem to bej very nervous and reluctant to work with a
blind person.

I just called different riding instructors and trainers in my comunity and
explained my situation. Most of them were very open to working with a blind
person. I would usually go observe a lesson to learn about their teaching
style. I've only talked to 2 people who were unwilling to work with me.

My neighbor loves going to different clinics, so she and I often sign up for
the
same ones. She is very good at explaining what the instructor is doing. In
group clinics and lessons I've found the other participants to be very
helpful
as well.

I also joined a riding club and have met some wonderful people that way.
Most
of them are pretty comfortable with me by now. My boyfriend also has horses
and rides, so we do things together too.

Do you take lessons any where, or have you in the past?

Nella
