Susan:

I've found a lot of information about cheese making on line. I also visited a
local goat dairy to learn more. I've been ordering my cheese and yogurt
cultures from www.caprinesupply.com I'm currently learning all I can about
making goat milk soap.

The Toggenbergs are a nice breed and are able to produce quite a lot of milk.
My Toggenberg is very old and is retired; she just lays around in the sun or
shade depending on the weather. I'm very happy with the Nubians; they don't
give quite as much milk, but it is a little richer. They seem to handle the
heat here in Phoenix better than some of the other breeds. I've read that they
are more energetic and vocal than other breeds, but don't really know. They do
have a lot of personality and are very social.

I purchased a doe in May, that had just weaned her kids and am just now drying
her up. The people had bred her very young and she's not very big. She has
grown a little, but I decided not to breed her again until this fall. A friend
gave me a very nice little Nubian doe, who is now 2 years old and I had her bred
in October. She is larger than the other one and, now looks very pregnant. She
should kid in mid March. Now I'm just not sure what I will do with the babies!
To bad you are so far away or I could share!

All of my goats have candy names; we have Jellybean, Carmel, Lollypop and Necco.
I will have to think of some more candy names for the baby or babies. Nubians
are known for having twins and Lollypop is very round!

I'll be sure to keep you posted on all the goat happenings around here.

Nella
