[Ag-eq] Chickens

Hi Nella and All

Oh wow, I can't tell you how wonderful it was to get such an uplifting email
about the farm Nella! I had an experience today where someone throughout my
eating lunch with my friend tried to talk to us about why I should want to
be healed. The whole thing was so degrading and it ended in me getting into
my friend's car, bursting into tears and asking her to take me to the minis.
This was a wonderful email that reaffirmed for me that it's respectable to
be blind which I already knew and that blind people are living their lives
which I also knew but it's wonderful to have reinforcements.

My minis have moved to another farm closer to me. They are such happy little
minis and the best part is that I get to help out with chores. I'm learning
so much! The owner has a no limits approach and it's just a little piece of
heaven! It is only our third day but we're loving it.

Michelle

Jody:

I was just thinking of you last week and wondering how your little farm set
up was going.

I have a black and white hen that is a Barred Rock and a golden one that is
a golden Comet. I think there are several white breeds, so have no idea
about that one. There are also several black breeds. What color of eggs
are they laying and do you know how old they are?

Maybe Susan will have more information for you; she's our chicken expert!

My hens have been laying about 20 eggs a week now that the days are getting
longer. I have 5 hens and would like to get 3 or 4 more.

Have you planted your garden yet?

I have lettuce almost ready to eat. I've planted squash, carrots and
cucumbers too. I will be planting my tomatoes and peppers next week. I
also plan on planting some egg plant. My orange tree has ripe oranges again
an the neighbors have been giving me lemons, grape fruit and mandrins.

My baby goats will be one year old March 11 and are as big as their mother.
Their mother is still giving a half gallon of milk a day, so I'm still
making cheese and yogurt. I've also been making goat milk soap.

I've been riding my horse whenever possible and he's doing great. We had a
wonderful lesson yesterday and worked on transitions between his flat walk,
fox trot and canter. He's getting very smooth and is so much fun to ride!

Well, that's about all going on here; what is everyone else doing?

Take care.

Nella
