[Ag-eq] garden, chicks, horses

Hi Jody,

It is common for 3 or so hens to use the same nest box. I have 6 nest
boxes, three on top of three, in each hen house and I have had as many as 20
hens in each coop. When I strip down each coop for a yearly maintenance, I
want to put a plastic cat litter box on the floor in the corner of each
coop. That way, when the determined little hen decides she had rather lay
on the floor, she will have the litter box with cedar bark shavings to
choose from. Then I can just pull the box to me and check it for eggs
instead of trying unsuccessfully to reach them. I usually have to get Matt
to check the coop corners under the hen boxes. The ones who lay outside the
hen boxes are the less dominate hens who get pushed out of the upper boxes.
