We belong to the farm bureau. The three of us have taken "on the farm"
classes reference micro goat dairy and goat cheese making. Also, I am set
up with LocalHarvest.com for 50 miles around our zip code reference local
harvest registered farms or growing interests. They supply me with local
events open to the public reference their products, classes and information
on how they produce their items. You can set this up for your own zip code
area as well. I was surprised to see farms and other interests that were
around me that I had never heard of before. We have often considered
connecting with our local 4-h or FFA for land use. This would have to be
agreed upon by my cousin, my sister and myself and my cousin is not too
conducive to having outsiders on the property. He is really concerned about
the liability issues. That is why he has stopped the outside farming and
all but 1 person hunting on the property.
I hope we can work something out soon because so much has already grown up
over the previous large fields and pastures that we are going to have to get
a front end loader to start taking out new growth trees.
