[Ag-eq] How to Administer Medicine for a Mini

If the medicine is intended to be taken by mouth, it, probably, doesn't taste to nasty, so why not 
just squirt it onto a slice of bread and give it to the minnie in that way?

I forgot to mention that the syringe is squirted into the mini's mouth. Oh

I've been meaning to get marked syringes for giving medication.
Unfortunately all my experience is in cattle and sheep, not horses. When I
give injections they are usually intramuscular- in the muscle, but I prefer
subcutaneous- in the skin. One thing you might be able to do is to have
someone sighted load several syringes with the correct dosage so all you
have to do is give them.

Giving shots shouldn't be difficult as long as you have the animal
sufficiently restrained. The way things would often work with my mom and I
am that I'd restrain and she'd give the shots, but that was primarily
because I was bigger and better for restraining than she was.

I'd consult a vet about proper administration procedure before administering
the medication.

I hope your mini gets well very soon.

Do you need to give an injection or oral liquid medicine?

I have some syringes that a friend put grooves on the plunger part.  I have
some marked with each CC and others with the half CC.  I can use these when
giving liquid medication to dogs, cats, goats and horses.  I just put the
syringe into the medication and draw it up until I get to the right groove.
If I go to far I just squirt the extra back into the bottle.

When I give the medication I put the syringe in the side of their cheeck and
push in the plunger.  I will hold the smaller animals heads up so the
medicine is more likely to go down their throats.  I can't really do this
with a full sized horse.  I have not learned how to give injections yet, but
hope to do it someday.

I hope this makes sense, if you have questions I'll try to explain it
better.
Maybe Zac has some good ideas.
