[Ag-eq] My latest purchases

re the exercise equipment, it is called a RockFit, and, I suspect, will be about as useful as tits
on a bull, but it was cheap so not much lost. Guideon still loves the PowerFit.
The greenhouse is still in its box, but I can feel light wire mesh so I assume that these are the
decks and I would imagine that the outside skin is plastic.
If the decks are above each other, I wonder how light and sunshine get to the lowest deck?
As I think I said, another of my purchases: arriving, possibly, tomorrow: is a Sherpa Stay Dry
Hiker's Jacket. It was labelled mm5000, so I wrote to OTB asking what this meant.
The reply that I received said that this was the common way that manufacturers have of rating the
degree of waterproofness of a fabric.
The higher the number, the more waterproof is the fabric: hence mm5000 means that if a tube with an
internal measurement of 25.44mm squared [1 inch] by 5000mm [5 metres, whatever that is in imperial
was stood upon a 25.44mm piece of the fabric from which the jacket is made, and then filled with
water, none would get through!
This seems to be a, perfectly, ridiculous and, completely unrealistic test.
In my view, a much better test would be to air-blast a large quantity of water against the fabric,
thus simulating the wearer being out in a fierce storm! and see how much of the wind-blown rain got
through: hopefully, NONE! Jewel

Wow Jewel, you're getting hight tech.

I'm curious to hear how the little greenhouse turns out.

I've thought about getting one. Do you know what yours is built out of?

I would like to be able to bring the herb plants into one. I could also
grow greens and such in it. They would be nice to start seeds in as well.

What is this exercise machine you ordered?

I wonder if Guideon will like it too?

Nella

One of the online retailers with whom I deal is a very good one called
"OffTheBack" [New Zealand only].
I have bought a few things lately, amongst them being a 3 deck greenhouse [a
tiny one of course], a piece of exercise equipment, a Sherpa Stay-Dry
Hiker's Jacket and, lastly, a quadcopter drone. the greenhouse, and the
exercise thingy are still to be assembled by a friend, while the drone is
being assembled as I write.
re the drone: I won't be able to use it myself, more's the pity, , but I
thought that Keith, my neighbour who keeps an eye on the sheep might find it
handy as, when lambing time comes, he could check on the ewes without
leaving his bed.
He was a little leery of my suggestion as he had heard that he could get in
trouble for using one, but I explained that as long as he was only flying it
over my property, and not taking voyeur pics of the hippies down the street
who were paid-up members of the au naturale set, he would not get into
trouble, and the ewes wouldn't be lodging a complaint about them being spied
upon in their outdoors maternity ward.
Unfortunately, it will only fly for about 10 minutes before falling to the
ground having run out of puff, and then spending another 100 minutes being
re-energised, but I guess that 10 minutes would be adequate as the
BlanchRanch, surely, must be the smallest ranch in New Zealand: perhaps the
only * ranch as our big cattle spreads are called stations or runs.
