[Ag-eq] Our weather and Bonnie and baby

Nella! Are you * share-milking Bonny?: that is: are you part-milking her and then leaving Sally
Jo with her to get her share.

This has been a remarkable * winter: could be mistaken for Spring most of the time.
At present, our daytime temps hover around 7 to 11 degrees celsius.

Jewel:

What are the temps there?

Breeding Bonnie is going to be tricky because she will need to be milked. I
will probably have to leave her with the bull for a few days, so not sure
how to manage it. I know and trust the person with the small Angus. She
would be happy to milk Bonnie for me. I don't know the person with the
Dexter very well and so far what I know about her doesn't make me want to
leave Bonnie there. I might also consider AI, but need to do more research
about it.

As I said it will be late February or early March before it needs to be
done. We would have a calf in October or November that way. The weather
would be good and the calf would have a little time to grow before it gets
really cold.

I like the idea of a Dexter so am going to look around for others. One of
my neighbors has a Scottish Highland bull that is also nice and not very
big. He is close enough that I could walk over and milk Bonnie. I could
probably take her back to the people I purchased her from, but they live a
pretty good distance from me.

I will need to figure it all out.

Nella

Gore has very little snow as a general rule. I thought that it might snow
again last night, but we had rain instead.
Nella! If it were me, I would put Bonny to a Dexter.
The copter drone had to go back to OffTheBack as one of the 4-way switches
was defective.
I hope to get a replacement.

Jewel:

How much snow do you usually get there?

Yes, Bonnie and little Sally Joe are doing well. I kept changing the baby's
name, but have settled on Sally Joe. Somehow if fits her. I can't believe
how fast she's growing. She loves to run and play. She and the young goat
Gumdrop are becoming friends. Porr Sally is going to be so confused; she
has a cow mother, a goat friend and thinks Cruiser is her father. Lol

I would like to breed Bonnie in February or March so she will calf in late
fall. The weather is nice then and she won't have to be huge pregnant in
the summer like she was this time. I'm looking at a smaller Angus bull and
a Dexter bull as breeding options.

Have you tried out the little drone yet?

Jody and I think you need to spy on your neighbors.

Nella
