[Ag-eq] Honey locusts

I am getting the thornless variety, but I hope that * thornless doesn't mean that they are also
podless, as it is the harvest of highly nutritious pods that I am after.
Corespondents from Goatsplus have said that they, the honey locusts, not the goatplussers, who are
now very few in number, are invasive, but I can't see browsers E.g goats/deer, or grazing stock:
sheep/ cattle, allowing them to get out of control and spread.
Frankly, I wouldn't break into a sweat if the did invade a bit, after having searched for them for
yonks before I found a nursery that grew them.

Jewel:

Some of the varieties have long thorns. In Arkansas they are not a
desirable tree.

Maybe there are some that are nice, but I wouldn't want the one with the
thorns. They are very long and sharp.

Good luck on finding good trees for your area.

Nella

This is a variety of tree that I have been anxious to grow for many years,
but until a week ago, I hadn't been able to find a nursery that had them.
but now I have and am getting 4 seedlings.
However, unless I am fortunate enough to set up a new record for longevity,
it is unlikely, though not impossible, that I will see them through to their
maturity.
I have very bad luck at persuading vegetables to frow for me, but, to date,
the majority of trees that I have planted have done very well.
I see, from the web, that honey locusts grow to a height of 20m: 66 feet or
thereabouts. I don't want to plant them, unnecessarily, far apart nor do I
wish to overcrowd them, so if any of you have had H L, what did you find was
the optimum separation?
