This is just a thought, but re the swimmer finding herself surrounded by a pod of Orcas.  It is 
possible that they did that to protect her from sharks that they, the orca, knew to be in the 
vicinity.
There was an incident up in Northland when swimmers thought that they were going to be attacked by 
dolphins because they kept charging at the swimmers until, they, the swimmers, went back on the 
beach.
It turned out that there were sharks nearby and the dolphins had the brainwave of by putting up a 
show of aggression, the swimmers were leave the water which, as I said, is just what they did!!!
