I was lulled into a sense of false hope when, for the first two nights of putting the scrummy blocks 
out for my uninvited and unwanted guests, and having them wolfed down, and then for three nights, 
said yummy blocks were left untouched, I got the impression that they: said lodgers  were gone, but 
last night, without touching the food I had, so thoughtfully, put out for them, they had a right 
royal dash and bash on the table, and the kitchen bench:  at long last, Pearl has found small 
droppings indicating that they are mice or baby rats.  The lidded plastic salt container was on the 
floor:  a tin of ointment was on the floor:  mixed vegetables were on the floor:  goodness knows 
where they got hold of them as the only mixed vegetables that I am aware of having are, safely, in 
the fridge.
I had doubts about the effectiveness of the KiwiCare product from the very first time I used it.  I 
said that being "Kiwicare" if the rodents brandished valid Kiwi passports, they would be given the 
freedom of the tabletop, and now, it seems, the kitchen bench without any threat to their 
wellbeing!!!
I rang Mitre10 to exchange the new box of KiwiCare bait that I had just bought for a different sort, 
so tomorrow night:  M10 only deliver on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we shall see what the outcome is.
When arranging the swap, I asked Andrew, without expecting that he could give an answer:  why was it 
that I was surrounded by intelligent animals?  firstly, Guideon and now a horde of unnamed rodents.
To my surprise, he was able to answer my question:  "Perhaps, they are attracted to intelligent 
people!!!"
How was that for an "off the cuff" answer?
