National Federation of the Blind of Ohio
Greater Akron Chapter
November 16, 2019
meeting at Akron Library at 11 a.m.

Dave Bertsch called the meeting to order. There were 12 members that attended and 5 guests. Dave read the NFB One Minute Message. The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

President's remarks: Dave talked about the success of NFB Ohio Convention, and all the accolades the chapter received, including the award of 'the Chapter on the Move'.

Reports
Secretary Report: Minutes from October meeting were approved by Ken. November meeting minutes will be distributed for approval in January.

Treasurer Report: There were no deposits or expenses for the month. Dave will update more at next meeting.

Newsline Committee: Pat discussed the access for Newsline. There would be a call to discuss set up and access. She encouraged members to call her for assistance.

Veteran Committee: Ken is willing to assist any veteran with establishing assistance and ongoing training thru the VA. Looking for ways the NFB can help.

Dave will be donating Braille books to our Akron Library that he got at the convention. Looking to add additional Braille solutions and make others aware that they are available. Dave discussed that possible future wristbands can be added with Braille and we can continue to use for outreach. Kathy suggested having Braille writers to print names on Cards for future outreach events.

Convention Committee: Colleen spoke how impressed she was with the convention as a 1st time attendee. Pat spoke highly of the content and gave kudos to Jessica for leading the group in the NFB song. Camryn and Percy enjoyed the presentations throughout the weekend. Overall everyone felt the convention was a success.
