<div>I just wanted to share that we, the Greater Akron Chapter, enjoyed a picnic a few days ago and celebrated our one year anniversary as a chapter of the Ohio Affiliate. Our Events Chair Colleen planned a terrific picnic, Kathy brought a huge cookie with

Happy Birthday NFB Akron written on it (and yes it was delicious), Margaret led us in song, and Pat, Jim, Stephanie and Andra (and me) each shared our top experiences from the National Convention. We even had a naturalist from the park we were at<font face="Calibri">,</font>

share some facts about the nearby plants and birds we heard singing. And we ate, and ate some more. </div>

<div>Over this first year we’ve built a growing team and a core group that can truly be counted on. I’m delighted our chapter was well represented at last year’s state convention, and even in Washington and Columbus, and most recently in Las Vegas. A majority

of our members renewed their memberships this month for the next year, all proudly carrying membership coins. We’ve always gotten great support in getting this thing off the ground, from the entire state, so thank you all very much, and my special thanks to

other chapter presidents and state board members who helped me learn the ropes. Here’s to our second year, with opportunity to support one another and help the blind in Akron and Ohio to live the lives they want.</div>
