Good evening everyone,

In case you are not aware, Ruth Swensen, a long-time Federationist and leader in the Blind People’s Movement passed away recently. The original plan was to have a short grave site service this Monday, and a memorial service later. That has changed and the grave site service and memorial are now both scheduled for Monday, July 29. Please see the email from Mark Feliz below.

Ruth’s husband (Jim Sohl), son and daughter-in-law (Tony and Tina Sohl) are also long-time members of the National Federation of the Blind. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Donald

We have changed our plans for services for Ruth Swenson. Both the graveside and memorial will be held this coming Monday, July 29th at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd. Due to the heat we will begin outside with the Baha'i Prayer for the Dead followed by a short memorial service inside.

9 a.m. Graveside - Prayer for the Dead

9:30 a.m. Memorial, Sunbird Room, Valley of the Sun Mortuary

11:30 a.m. Reception with light refreshments at Swenson-Sohl Home, 311 W. McNair, Chandler, AZ

Ruth's graveside is on the west side of the main entrance from Chandler Heights Road. There will be a canopy at the location.
