January 20, 2009 7:00 P.M.

Members of the West Valley Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind
of Arizona will be reading a Braille/print book during children's story time
at:

Glendale Public Library located at 5959 W. Brown St. in Glendale AZ on
Tuesday, January 20, at 7:00 P.M.

Sighted and blind children, along with their families and friends, are
invited to learn about Braille and listen to a story describing the life of
Louis Braille, the inventor of the reading and writing code for the blind
that bears his name. The book will have text in both print and Braille as
well as pictures to accompany the story so that everyone may enjoy.

Afterwards, we will write each child's name in Braille for him or her to
keep, and you may stay to ask any questions regarding blindness or Braille.
Members of the West Valley chapter of the National Federation of the Blind
of Arizona will be on hand to read the Braille story, demonstrate Braille
writing, and distribute Braille alphabet cards and other information about
literacy for the blind.

This exciting event is being held as part of the National Federation of the
Blind's Braille Readers are Leaders campaign, a national initiative to
promote the importance of reading and writing Braille for blind children and
adults. For more information about the Braille Readers are Leaders
campaign, please visit www.braille.org.
