Hi,

A unique blind photography exhibition will open in June at the National Gallery in the presence of one of the students ,blind photographer Sonia Mouhtar. The exhibition is titled “Exposure to Light” featuring the works of eight blind photographers. The works showing in The National Gallery of Bangkok are the third installment of the Exposure to Light photograph series .Unconventional, edgy and enigmatic, the photographs captured by the blind show snapshots of their everyday life from the very banal scene of passengers waiting for a train to the spectacular natural light show at sundown. They are the result of experimental workshops created by two photographers Iris Darel Shinar and her fellow photographer Kfir Sivan . The exhibition exposes the viewer to the blind person’s world. Through the camera lens, the participant is given the chance to take a glance into the way the blind ‘sees’ and feel the surroundings.

“For blind photographers, the impulse is different.” says blind photographer Sonia Mouhtar. “It is not about the looking at the result as much as about absorbing the atmosphere and letting it sink in.”

Exposure to Light shares this unique experience of blind photographers with the seeing world and ushers us into a new kind of photography: a photography led by imagination, sentiment and all four senses, vision excluded.
