Subject: [Artbeyondsightmuseums] first annual Audio Description
ProjectConference

Hi,

Forwarding this information about the first annual Audio Description
Project conference

"The American Council of the Blind has established the Audio Description
Project to promote description throughout the nation in all its formats
and to produce description for broadcast media. We will hold our first
annual Audio Description Project Conference in conjunction with ACB's
2009 Convention this summer in Orlando, FL-July 6-8. Immediately
following our Conference, from July 9-11, we will convene our first
Audio Description Training Institute, a three-day intensive series of
interactive, multi-media sessions focused on the fundamentals of audio
description.

I've attached documents (and appended them below) on both events and
several other related initiatives:

- "The Miracle Worker" on DVD with captions and description provided by
ACB's Audio Description Project-sales through the links indicated
benefit ACB!

- the Young Described Film Critic contest, sponsored by ACB's ADP and
the Described and Captioned Media Program-encourage kids you know to
review described video or film!

- a call for nominations for the first ACB/ADP Awards, including the
Barry Levine Memorial Award for Career Achievement in Description as
well as description Achievement Awards in Media, Performing Arts, Visual
Art, and Research.

I do hope you can join us! Keep in mind that formal registration should
begin by the end of next week at the ACB website:

www.acb.org

www.adinternational.org
www.audiodescribe.com"
