[Artists-making-art] Summer Exhibit Plans

I thought you said that there was already a discussion...of sorts...?
Apparently I'm getting in on the tail end of it...no prob.

There are several very good, exhibited and professional artists just in Maine, NH and Vermont...including blind photographers. I am not sure if any of us would be qualified/comfortable in a "Tactile Art Exhibit".

Maybe it's just me, but it's an narrowly crafted definition of art and the blind...uncommon for Federation activities, I feel.

Patty, we are going to have some discussion about this. What are your feelings? Ann

This is the first I've heard that his exhibit was inclusive of visual art, as well. Thank you for all of the details.

I believe what we have discussed is:
This will be a tactile art exhibit for sighted and blind artists to share their work.(open to touch)
This will also be a visual art exhibit for blind artists to share their work visually. (not open to touch)
Be very clear on your label information which kind of artwork each piece is. We will display them in different areas.
Please know that we do have tables but we don't have easels. If your artwork needs to be displayed on an easel you will have to include that in with the picture. I would suggest a cardboard table top design for the visual art that is relatively light weight and inexpensive.
I would suggest that all tactile artwork is on the table. This includes bas relief images.
We would like to limit displayed works to art, no craft. This shouldn't limit your options since the NFB Krafters Division also has a space to display. You will need to contact them about entrance requirements.
      For our art exhibit:
      There is no entrance fee.
      There is no insurance.
The room will be manned during its open time.
Open times will be noon to 5pm, July first and second.
I can offer to collect and display and repackage and ship (prepaid boxes) back to you. The boxes will have to be sturdy enough to make the trip both ways since I will not have access to packing materials.
If you would like to sell items you can have your contact information on your label and people can negotiate that transaction with you. You will then need to contact me so that I can release the artwork to them.

I will be happy to create the labels for the entire show so lets say we need to have a deadline of June 15th for entries. Since this is our first open entry show we will have to deal with issues as they come up since I am sure there will be.
