Exploring Art and Accessibility in 2015
I just changed my email service to MailChimp. My emails should now be much more colorful, organized and entertaining.
I'll post pictures of tactile sculptures as new ones are completed for my upcoming accessible art exhibit, first stop the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin then on to Boulder, Colorado.
On the last Wednesday of each month, I’ll post audio interviews with all sorts of people who have very different perspectives on art and accessibility. I’ll talk to tactile artists who are sighted and visual artists who are blind, you’ll meet app developers and museum educators as well as researchers sharing how societal attitudes can open or close doors to common cultural experiences.
You can hear, multi-sensory artist / accessible app developer Pete Brown's interview right now at: http://SensationalBooks.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13b256be029131695e7fdbfb1&id=4f271d1f13&e=7686d063e0

Hands gently cup around the small light colored sculpture of a bear's head.
I'll share pictures of student's work from art class at the Colorado Center for the Blind. This alabaster bear's head was sculpted by Rosalina.
Wynken, Blyken and Nod is 3 feet high by 2 feet wide low relief sculpture carved from slate. At the top four five-pointed stars carve from the slate and finished with silver leaf twinkle in the sky. The Man-In-the-Moon smiles down on the three fishermen in the boat made from a wooden shoe. Wynken and Blyken are standing behind Nod who is leaning out to cast his net into the water. Thee star shaped silver fish play in the waters beside the boat.
I'll post images of my sculptures ready to send out for exhibition. This is Wynken Blyken & Nod a bas relief sculpture made of slate, bronze, wood and silver leaf.
Distinctive plateaus stand in front of high mountains in the distance. The plateaus surround the buildings and streets of the village. A horse is pictured in the foreground and is one of the modes of transportation used locally.
I'll demonstrate techniques for making easy and inexpensive tactile graphics. This drawing was made by a student to show the class amazing features about the landscape around his home in Africa.
