<DIV>Full disclosure: I make and sell raised line drawing boards. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I had prototypes at National Federation of the Blind 2011 Convention in Orlando in the Drop In Art Room. I used the Sewell Raised Line Drawing Kit for many years but in the last few years they have become hard to find. One of my students, A. D. started making her own, we had hers at NFB Convention too. If the boards were rigid and had wooden backs they were hers.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I wanted to create a board that was designed to work with the same kind of paper that is found in any office, just regular copy paper, not the special plastic paper that most raised line drawing kits use. Copy paper runs about $6.00 for 500 sheets.  I also wanted it to be really durable since I kept breaking the corners of my Sewell. I thought it would be really nice if it didn't have clips to catch on things when I packed it in my backpack, briefcase or suitcase. I came up with the Black Board. People have been experimenting around on the Black Board with lots of different types of paper and pens (regular ball point pens) and learning what suits them.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Kestrell, you asked about directions for making your own and you can. You need to find rubber that will raise the line when you draw on your picture with a pen or whatever you want to draw with, maybe a stylus. Just experiment around with materials you find at the hardware store or perhaps a hobby shop, until you find one that works for you. If you want the plastic sheets to draw on you can buy them from American Printing House. On their website they have 25 sheets for $6.00. Use a flexible glue and mount the rubber on a board. Voila! Draw away!  </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Have fun drawing. I draw on my board almost everyday. A.D. uses it in her chemistry classes and the Denver Art Museum just order some that they are going to premier at the Yves St. Laurent exhibit early 2012.</DIV>
