<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Although I applaud blind artists who work in any
and all media, I feel a bit apprehensive about including work in the art room
that is not open to touch. As blind people, most of us have altogether too
much experience with inaccessible art and touch-hostile venues. It would
be unfortunate to recreate that experience in this, the ideal situation for
blind art enthusiasts. I would like to suggest that any displays that are
not open to touch include detailed descriptions in Braille, or perhaps even some
tactile representation such as a simple raised-line drawing.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I believe what we have discussed is: </DIV>
<DIV>This will be a tactile art exhibit for sighted and blind artists to share
their work.(open to touch) </DIV>
<DIV>This will also be a visual art exhibit for blind artists to share their
work visually. (not open to touch)</DIV>
<DIV>Be very clear on your label information which kind of artwork each piece
is. We will display them in different areas. </DIV>
<DIV>Please know that we do have tables but we don't have easels. If your
artwork needs to be displayed on an easel you will have to include that in
with the picture. I would suggest a cardboard table top design for the visual
art that is relatively light weight and inexpensive. </DIV>
<DIV>I would suggest that all tactile artwork is on the table. This includes
bas relief images. </DIV>
<DIV>We would like to limit displayed works to art, no craft. This shouldn't
limit your options since the NFB Krafters Division also has a space to
display. You will need to contact them about entrance requirements.</DIV>
<DIV>For our art exhibit:</DIV>
<DIV>There is no entrance fee. </DIV>
<DIV>There is no insurance. </DIV>
<DIV>The room will be manned during its open time.</DIV>
<DIV>Open times will be noon to 5pm, July first and second. </DIV>
<DIV>I can offer to collect and display and repackage and ship (prepaid boxes)
back to you. The boxes will have to be sturdy enough to make the trip both
ways since I will not have access to packing materials. </DIV>
<DIV>If you would like to sell items you can have your contact information on
your label and people can negotiate that transaction with you. You will then
need to contact me so that I can release the artwork to them. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I will be happy to create the labels for the entire show so lets say we
need to have a deadline of June 15th for entries. Since this is our first open
entry show we will have to deal with issues as they come up since I am sure
there will be.</DIV>

<DIV>The hotel is emailing shipping directions to me right now and I will
forward those to you directly. Feel free to voice questions, additions,
changes and objections to any of these plans by May 9th. We will make all our
final decisions by then. OK? Ann </DIV>
