Hello,

I wanted to add my experience to this discussion.

My wife is blind and I'm sighted. We have a 2022 Tesla Model Y with Hardware 3 and FSD 12 dot something and 188,026 miles on it.

At first I used Autopilot from March to the end of 2022 then I used FSD from then till now. We've done several road trips with it:

  *
From Maryland to Missouri then New Orleans for convention
  *
From Maryland to Tennesse then Houston for convention
  *
From Maryland to Orlando for convention
  *
From Maryland to snow shoe resort in west virgina then Louisville Kentucky then new orleans for convention
  *
To Orlando a handful of times
  *
to connecticuit a handful of times
  *
To tennesse a handful of times
  *
will drive to austin both years & chicago both years
  *
Towed a 3,500 lbs rv travel trailer to tennesse a couple of times but FSD and autopilot doesn't work while towing

We've had a great time with our Tesla and FSD. I can't wait to try a Tesla robotaxi in austin this year and maybe a waymo but waymo's scare the poop out of me seeing the number of problems they run into all the time.

I will have my FSD Tesla model Y at the maryland state convention and the austin national convention if anyone wants to get more hands on to a tesla then a uber driver will let them! I'm not the prissy tesla driver saying don't touch my beautiful car, rofl! I have a car seat for our 5 year old so can comfortably carry 2 passngers maybe 3 but if neded be popping out the car seat isn't hard and I can do 4 passengers in case anyone wants road time in it.

If anyone has questions let me know!

Thanks,

Hello Corn,

Glad to meet you. Waymo is still mapping San Antonio and plans to launch after the first of the year. We can’t wait for their service to go live. They already operate in Austin with Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio on the horizon. Unlike Boston conventional and autonomous rideshare has been embraced in Texas. Conventional rideshare services like Lyft and Uber can operate anywhere in the state. Perhaps in time after Waymo and others build up a successful track record the same protections could be extended to autonomous rideshare services.

When Lyft and Uber began operations they received pushback from various communities until the Texas State Legislature stepped in to protect their ability to operate state-wide. It would be great if such legislation passed at the federal level to insure that conventional and autonomous rideshare services could operate nation-wide. Take care and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Peter,

How are you? I have not had the pleasure yet to riding in an autonomous vehicle yet because I live in a rural area in Southwest Georgia. However, I do plan on trying Waymo for the first time when I go to visit family in Atlanta in the new year and will definitely post about my experience. I'm so looking forward to the experience.

Good Morning Cornelius and everyone,

Cornelius have you ridden in an autonomous vehicle yet? We’d like to hear about your experience and the experiences of others that have used autonomous rideshare, (ARS.) Plans continue to move forward to launch Waymo in San Antonio most likely sometime next year. My special t-shirt awaits being worn, the music from Test Track is queued up and we’re ready for launch. Looks like Mary and I won’t have to go to Disney World to ride the Test Track Attraction at EPCOT Center. The Test Track is coming to the Alamo City. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and we’ll see you on the test track.
