Waymo officially announced *"Gemini in Waymo"* on *July 29, 2026*.

The integration brings Google's Gemini AI into Waymo’s 6th-generation *Ojai*
robotaxi vehicles as an in-cabin assistant.
What Gemini Does Inside Waymo Vehicles

   *Passenger Companion:* Riders can tap the Gemini icon on the in-car
   display to adjust cabin temperature (e.g., *"turn the A/C to 65"*), ask
   about local landmarks or nearby coffee shops, check trip details, or ask
   general questions.

   *Safety & Autonomy Boundary:* Gemini operates strictly at the
   passenger-experience layer and is kept separate from the autonomous driving
   system. It cannot control steering, speed, or routing, though passengers
   can request a pullover via voice command.
