First the only company who has talked about this kind of subject in any way that I know of is Volvo a couple years ago. They were asked if their Self Driving System, when it comes out, has an accident who is at fault. Volvo said that if the Police investigation
finds the computer made an error that Volvo would take full responsibility!

you would need an insurance that doesn't cover you as the driver but the car. Insurance now is written in a way that you are liable for your accidents if your car is at fault.

licenses will need to be changed, yes! I do not think having no license is the right answer. I feel having a 2 tier system is best.

first tier for all the current licenses that allow you to drive under your own control.

second tier for those who physically can't drive or who don't want to. This tier would only be good for cars that have 100% full self driving control and don't need a human to interfere! I still feel this tier should go thru a modified version of the Classroom
portion of the Drivers Ed Program to allow them to learn the rules of the road so they have a sense of whats going on.

I also can't wait for full self driving to happen!

Subject: [AutonomousVehicles] drivers licenses for people who are
blind
Hi Everyone,
I am a member of the Autonomous Vehicles Committee and look forward to
getting to know all of you. I'd love to get some discussion going on what
everyone's thoughts are on driver's licenses for people who are blind as
self-driving cars become more prevalent. What does the process of obtaining
a license look like and has there been and discussion in your states or at
the Federal level on this?

I'm low vision myself (RP) and I am excited about what these vehicles will
be able to do as it relates not only giving blind/low vision people
independence but also help society as a whole.

I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Cornelius
