Hi All,
I will give a summary of what went on during the meeting (as it refers
to this list or things that we can do on our own).
Please, Anmol, chime in if I either forget something or present
something incorrectly.
We discussed making books more accessible for those who do not live in the USA.
We all know about the strict laws of the Library of Congress and NLS.
There was some discussion about the library in Australia and how they
were trying to help others have access to both braille (at least
technical braille) and audio books.
But, there were no suggestions as to how we might assist the process.
We talked about sending items abroad.
Some people wanted to have a drive to collect equipment or products
for the blind and send them to developing countries.
There was some discussion about the postal fees.
Apparently these fees have hindered people from sending large
quantities of products to other countries.
It was suggested that if we want to try to get products to send to
other countries: we do it individually, not collectively.
That was about the scope of the meeting, as it pertained to us taking
action in some sort of way.
