Calling all Orientation & Mobility Specialists, Teachers of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Braille transcribers and Alternate media specialists:

Join LightHouse and APH for Summer in the City, a San Francisco-themed TMAP workshop on Monday, May 24 from noon to 1:30 pm Pacific. TMAP, orTactile Maps Automated Production<https://lighthouse-sf.org/tmap/?mc_cid=f522980643&mc_eid=UNIQID> is a tool to generate tactile street maps.

Instructors:

  * Greg Kehret, Director of Media and Accessible Design Laboratory<https://lighthouse-sf.org/braille-and-accessible-design/?mc_cid=f522980643&mc_eid=UNIQID> at Lighthouse
  * Karen Poppe, Product Manager, Educational Product Innovation at APH
  * William Freeman, Tactile Technology Product Manager at APH
There will be a trivia contest, hosted by Greg. For instance, did you know that Lombard Street, world-famous for its turns, is not actually the windiest street in San Francisco? That honor goes to Vermont Street near 20th.

William will show how to use the PixBlaster to print TMAPs and Karen will explore ways to create and embellish tactile graphics using low-tech products.

Greg is excited to teach people the mechanics of printing TMAPs.

“When it comes to TMAP, if you ever wondered, ‘How does this actually work?’ and ‘How do people print these things?’, then this is the event where you can learn about that .“

RSVP for Summer in the City: TMAPs will get you moving!<https://aph.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_1xB5hB_5RteJXXl2F105iw?mc_cid=f522980643&mc_eid=UNIQID>
