[Blind-rollers] Blind-rollers Digest, Vol 21, Issue 6

Just spinning a bit to get discussion going. The talk about social
networks, lead my little brain into the direction of Carol's post, how. How
do you get to the agreed place to meet? When do you tell the date who you
are?

Big hugs dear Laura,

hey becky, while your recommendations are good for socializing, I didn't see

anything in the original question that implied she was speaking of a social
life -- just general adaptation for someone blind who also uses a
wheelchair.
Hmm -- now I'm going to have to check out facebook or myspace and see what I

find. I have been thinking of creating a webspace somewhere...
Cheers.

Got a question for the blind rolers list. You get on facebook or any of the
other social sites, you start talking to someone who really is interesting
to you. You then talk on the phone for hours. Where do you meet? Please
never ever gang meet anyone at your home or apartment. You pick a nice safe
place to meet with plenty of your friends around doing their own thing while
you meet your new friend.
A friend of mine brought her bombshell girlfriend with her. Don't do that.
It did not come out good for my friend. The guy hit on her friend.

I had my girlfriend drive to another town to meet this guy I met on an email
list. My girlfriend and I had one room and he had the other. What a sweet
man. My mom was a basket case. The gal who drove me is ten years my senior.
Twenty three months later I married him.

We had to think about accessibility for the both of us and the both of us
are still ambulatory. It has to be a logistical hardship to meet in a safe
public place.

We are sexual beings. We are not designed to stay alone forever. I would
love to hear your stories of success and failure. We can all learn
together. When do you tell your person who you are. I told my date I
looked like a troll. He did not believe me and he showed up being the
honorable man he is, smile.

I am a bit confuse, I was told about Blind Rollers about nine months
ago
and decided to join;
but I have not yet read, or learn anything that about technique and info
that would help a Blind person
that used a wheelchair and power chair. This population is still so not
recognized, even by NFB in the
quarterly Magazine there is nothing. Am I on the wrong site?
