Hi Deneice , and welcome to the list!
The type and length of cane you need will depend on your unique disabilities

and preferences. I think even if you get a mobility instructor, you should
experiment on your own before he/she comes so you can have intelligent
questions to ask. Mobility training is a team effort -- the instructor will
most like build off what you have started.
Now as for air ports, it has been a while since I have flown, but I was in a

wheelchair last time I flew and it goes quite smoothely if you call well in
advance. Will you have an attendant with you? If not, the airline will
escort you where you need to go. It may be that your chair will be stowed
with baggage, which might be a little scary, but most airports have a narrow

transport chair that they put you in to get you into the plane and down an
aisle. (a standard wheelchair probably won't fit into the passenger cabin.)
Good luck and I hope things go well for you!

Hello List,

I have been reading post for a while but this is the first time I have
posted anything. I am so glad that there is a place for us to go and find
out about things. I do have some questions, I am in a motor chair now,
and am trying to figure out what kind of cane I will need. What is the
best type of cane to use when using a motor chair. I am hoping to get
some O and M, but that may take a while. And another question is (
this may be a dumb question ) But I am going to try to go to the convention
this summer, How hard is it to go through the airports with your chairs,
and how do you get from the airports to the hotels. I guess you can tell I
am very new at this.

I want to Thank You in advance for your Help.

Deneice Hopper
