USING A WHEELCHAIR ACCOMPANIED BY A GUIDE DOG
NEWSWIRE:
I am 39 years old. Been visually impaired all my life and lost all my
vision about two years ago. In December of 93 I was hit by a drunk driver
and as a result of the car crash my neck was broken. I have regained a lot
of the use of my arms. In nov. of 06 I started to use a wheelchair guide
dog from GDb. I have used a dog ever since and will never change my mind
about using a cain full time any longer.
Here are some of the topics that I will cover during my talk.
How long the wheelchair program has been going on since the guide dog
schools has started a program like this.
The different things a wheelchair guide can do compared to a walking guide.
How the equipment is different.
The different commands.
What the criteria is to get into the wheelchair program
