[Blind-rollers] I knew this was coming/can anyone help?

Hi,
I live in Oregon. I have contacted our state president but I have not heard back from her yet.  

My dr. apt went well. She listened to me and took copious notes on what I said, so we're doing okay so far. She agrees with me that I need a motorized chair and that I could handle it. So we'll see what the evaluation people say.

Yea! the audiobook version of "Jesus makes the difference:a collection of stories for young people" is now available on iTunes and at audible . com (delete the spaces).

Which state do you live in?  I would contact an onm instructor or your state’s National federation for the blind state rep. Or you can call the national office. If you are in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, I can connect you.   If any one wants to judge you because your blind, they have to provide ONM instructor for the evaluation but, that can be a catch 22 as not all of them would say a blind individual can use an electric   chair. I have not been wel for a while but, if you want you can e-mail me and I can try to conect  you to resources.

Hi,

They are working on getting me a new wheelchair. I do have to be evaluated since I am going toward a motorized chair. The medical info, the x-rays etc, show that I qualify for a motorized chair due to the extent of the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips. However, and you guessed it, they are concerned about the safety of a blind person using a motorized chair. 

Sooooo, would anyone be willing to give me your phone number and be willing to talk to whomever is involved to help advocate for me? I mean, I can tell them theoretically, but an actual blind user would be the best.  If so, please contact me at

Ps:I've been using a manual chair and that is quite difficult. It seems like a motorized chair would be easier for me, especially since my arms are not that strong either.  

Much of the time, I can hear whether I am heading for a wall or I'm out in the middle etc, by the sound.  I don't know how to explain that to a sighted person. I guess it is sonar or something. Like, when I used to walk, I could hear trees or pillars etc, off to my right or left without using a cane on them.
