[Blind-Rollers] getting a custom wheelchair

If it is anything like mine getting started is the problem. If the wheels
aren't pointed say, straight, it will take time maybe several feet to go
straight. Practice practice like your life depends on accuracy. I wasn't
offered anything but a joy stick.  On the back of my wheelchair is a bracket
that allows someone else to drive my power chair E-fix wheels.

Mine just using the manual chair part had the most awful heavy wheels. They
were nice looking, but nearly impossible for me to move on a low pile rug
suitable for a wheelchair. I had them switch them out for lighter weight
wheels.     

Have you tried to use the power inside. Mine do not fit through doorways.
Thus the manual part with no foot peddles is all I can use. In fact I took
the door off this studio where I work on customer orders. I have a purtain
across my doorway.  I also got for the bathroom the fold away hinges. They
work great also on my gate going off my deck to the driveway so I can leave
easier.

I am getting a custom wheelchair for my connective tissue disorder. 

I'm getting a manual one with a power assist. I will be wearing a bracelet
on my right wrist that I use to start and stop the chair by tapping the rim
of the wheel. Any tips on using a chair like this totally blind? I have to
use my hands to steer the chair. The chair rolls by itself until I stop it
with the bracelet. Any tips for using my cane with this chair?
