[Blind-Rollers] Potential Benefits of Super Lidar for Blind Rollers

Shane and others,
I am on this list because I occasionally back up Dave Andrews. Therefore, I don't have the firsthand experience that most people here have, but it seems as though this technology could have some real potential. Getting additional information about my environment is something that has always interested me. One of the major drawbacks to a number of approaches using other technologies to gather information about one's environment is the lack of ability to reliably warn of stairs going down. Would this technology be able to overcome that drawback of other technologies? If it can't, it still could be very useful since it would allow one to concentrate on looking specifically for steps or curbs with less attention being required for surrounding objects or people. Still, it is important to clearly explain how steps down or curbs are indicated.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson

Karen and all,
That sounds intense, and I'm glad to hear that you're on the mend!
When I reached out to the list earlier this year, I didn't receive any feedback, so we weren't sure how to proceed or if users were interested in working with us to design something.
I would love to know how you envision something like this working, and we can go from there! :)
