Hi
I take it all the time so I'm in a bit of a different situation but I believe you can get a temporary eligibility so if you could get to your door to outside then they'd be right there to take you where you want to go.

Thanks Maureen. :-) Really appreciate. I have gone up and downstairs using the railing, and I do have four stairs at my house. I don’t think I am eligible for para transit, as I am able to take the bus. Not sure if they have temporary eligibility though. Might try it. Generally here you have to call them 24 hours in advance, and they generally come a couple of hours late. It would be hard to do round trips with them in less than four hours, and I work about 10 hours per day. But we’ll see if they have temporary eligibility. Tried using a manual chair with a cane, but very slow. And would have to get it in and out of Uber and Lyft. I think working on an app or sonar/laser cane might be more effective but not sure. Really appreciate your thoughts

Just thinking that if you don't have stps to exit your apartment to outside maybe using a manual chair for outings could work? You can use one with a cane for short distances such as going from a taxi or paratransit into a coffeeshop or restaurant. Just thinking outloud of a way for you to still be able to leave your place and be safe.

Well I am being discharged next week, and have no way of knowing where curbs or stairs going down our, so they want me to remain homebound until I can get my knees replaced in six months or more. Having been homebound for Covid for the past two years, this is untenable. Social isolation is not good for anyone mental health. Is there anyone on your development team who would be willing to be hired privately at my expense, separately from their work, to help me develop a solution quickly? I will happily pay for time.
