[blindkid] Wii system

I bought the Wii because Na'im needed the exercise (steroid fat, and not receptive to good old fashion exercise) and the playstation and xbox were not giving it to him.  He loves boxing, bowling, tennis, and table tennis (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games).. He is a bronze medal holder.  Na'im plays fighting games mostly on  all gaming systems, but the Wii encourages him to get off his "patukus".  If there is enjoyment gotten from the system, then it is accessible as far as I am concerned. The system I regret is the Xbox 360.

Well.........back in the day of regular video games (with bits)......we knew a friend of Allison's (blind since birth) could play video games and beat her 2 sighted siblings.  She played the games just by the sounds that were on the game, and maybe memorizing them.  When we visited, she showed us how she did it, but she always beat her sisters.  Our daughter tried it, and with their quick reflexes as kids, she was better than my husband and I were!

Yes, there's some help involved, but I'm very sure she'll figure out some sort of enjoyment out of it....although not independently.  I'm so sorry to hear that with all the games out there that ARE accessible, or that can be made accessible for our kids to join in with others, and get a LOT more enjoyment out of them. There are a LOT of accessible things out there! Santa didn't do his research very well.
:(~  Sometimes, families are the hardest to get through to.....we've definitely experienced that - even much later in our daughter's life.  I sure hope that, in a couple of years, Santa doesn't bring her a car!  I know the intention was good.....yes, it's the thought that counts.  Just keep reminding me of that!  :) ~
