Dear Mindy,
Congratulations to Matthew! Also to his proud parents! Maybe you can also
share with the list how others can apply for the next cycle>
What an exciting trip you have to look forward to receive the award as well!
I understand about the village needed for raising a strong child--but you
have been his foundation and springboard Mindy--job well done to you too!
Best,

Subject: [blindkid] Matthew Lipsey - Council for Exceptional Children

Hello Everyone-
I wanted to share an award that Matthew just won - Matthew applied for the
Council for Exception Children-Yes I Can! Award (for advocacy) a few months
ago, and we just received a phone call this week notifying us that he is a
winner!
The organization received 300 applications and only awarded 27 children with
this prestigious honor.
Matthew won a trip to Seattle beginning on Apr. 3rd (for the entire
family).  He will receive a trophy (created by a blind sculptor), award and
letter from the President of the US, in front of approx. 400 conference
attendees.  He will also attend a special field trip while in Seattle.
Much thanks to all of you who inspired, motivated and taught Matthew over
the past 5 years.  You've all been so instrumental in helping Matthew
generate such a positive attitude towards blindness, and helping him to
realize that nothing will stop him from accomplishing his dreams.
>From his proud Mom,
Mindy
