Back in the early 1960's in public junior high and high school in a city with no public school program for the blind, I kept my Perkins brailler and disc talking book machine (one needed it to play RFB&D books on flexible disks) in my locker and carried a large briefcase and portable manual typewriter with me to each class all day every day. Said briefcase had, of course, a slate and stylus in one of its compartments.
