[blindkid] Bookshare - NIMAC News!

Hello, Carol,
Well, she works for Bookshare, but not the NIMAC division. There are many
areas of Bookshare.org, and she is employed full-time.in another
division/area of the company. She stays on top of all of it, though, and I
forwarded her the discussion from the list to talk about with work. She
will be attending Washington Seminar representing Bookshare - at the student
seminar, as well as other vision-related seminars (including C-Sun coming up
in March in L.A.). Btw, she loves her job - big time! :)) Something we
can all hope for each of our children!

P.S. To address those speaking about their children's love of languages,
Allison did 6 years of Spanish, 3 years of French, and a year of Japanese -
it can be done! I can tell you honestly, that most of the kids starting out
in college will, in the 1st. two years of attending, will change their
majors several times. She loved teaching and languages VERY much, but ended
up with a B.S. degree in Women's Studies (yes, she's my Gloria Steinem), and
ended up getting a job that includes 3 huge passions of hers: Lots & lots
of books & reading, assistive technology (everywhere!), and traveling all
over the country! I guess things work out, but I do know volunteering,
making acquaintances at our conventions, and positive net-working skills are
almost as important as any plan of study in undergrad school.

Kathy,
Is Allison still working on that project?
