Marking with tape is an excellent suggestion-- we have dozens of
electronic items around here, each with it's own "wall wart" or
"brick" power supply. Very few are interchangeable so I try and mark
all of them I can. For what it may be worth, I have actually found
that brightly colored 3M electrical tape (from Home Depot, etc.) holds
up a bit better and when written on with a Sharpie the label lasts for
years. As a bonus, I know which ones have yellow or red or blue labels
(etc.) making it even easier to narrow down the choices... It is
amazing how well these labels hold up! A really nice feature with this
tape is that usually you can peel off the electrical tape years later
and leave virtually no residue-- again, this is with the better
quality 3M tape-- probably $3 or $4 a roll and available in many
colors. I would NOT suggest the cheap 99 cent stuff-- it will leave a
gooey mess every time and it tends to move and slide when something
like a power supply gets warm.
We're not quite ready to encourage Kendra (not quite age 7 at this
point) to plug and unplug things from the wall yet, if for no other
reason than she'd soon want to unplug everything she ran across, but
when she's a bit older I suspect braille dymo labels would be a great
idea especially for her items and obviously conventional (print) dymo
labels could also be useful for print readers...
