Dear Debby,
I don't know if you realized it or not but the exercise of Winona following
Bob on the bike I think sounds like really excellent orientation practice!

Subject: Re: [blindkid] Training Wheels or Not?

Winona (13 this week!) has light perception only. She rode a bike with
training wheels, but wanted them off when Daniel (also 13) got his off at
about age 7. She was never able to manage the balance portion. She loves the
tandem bike, but even more she loves the large 3 wheel bike, like a huge
trike. No balance worries, cushie seat, and she can go on her own. My
husband put cards on his spokes like we all did as kids, and she can follow
the sound to stay on the street safely. No sidewalks here, so they ride in
the neighborhood street.
