There are several blind accessible computer games for very young children
developed by 7-128 Software. They are called Pizza Games and are
self-voiced. The Baby Bear edition has three games, Here Comes the Duck, Letters,
and Numbers.
Here Comes the Duck teaches cause and effect. A child presses any key and
an animal appears, makes its sound, and the name of the animal is spoken.
At a random interval, the duck appears, quacks across the screen and the
child is told, All the animals have run away.
In the Letters game, the child is told to press any letter key. This will
teach both the placement of keys on the keyboard and the letter along with
the sound of the letter. When a letter key is pressed, the letter is
spoken and the name of the object that starts with that letter is spoken and the
sound associated with that object is played. Then the child is told to
press any letter key and it repeats. If the child has selected all the
objects in a particular letter, the child is told that.
In the Numbers game, the same thing occurs with numbers, except the
numbers are from zero to nine and the number is counted out.
