Congratulations to Ethan! My daughter described her training at CCB to be "life changing". I only wish there were more NFB training centers so more blind kids could learn the skills!

We just found out Ethan's been accepted into the Littleton, CO NFB three-week Summer Independence program. He was the last of only eight kids to get into this program. Whew!

There are four boys and four girls who will live in two-bed/to-bath apts.; the boys with one counselor and the girls with another. There will be the core classes or braille, and cane travel covered, as well as their trip each morning by bus from the apts. to the Center. The counselors will also take them rock climbing and hiking at some point, and they're hoping to squeeze in a trip to a ball game, and white water rafting, which is not always done by the middle school group.

I'm thrilled he's getting this opportunity, and believe it could not come at a better time. He'll be entering high school in the Fall, and with this experience under his belt, I think he'll have much more belief in himself as he starts to navigate est, the turbulence of that arena!

Thanks as always to those of you we see at NFB who've encouraged us to keep trying to get him into one of the summer programs - I think this is going to be a great fit!

Best,
Leslie Ligon
