[blindkid] Transision to Kindergarten

The first thing I got before PK was a Technology Evaluation giving a time line by years and grade as what the child will need.  This does two thing Lets the School board prepare a year or more in advance for setting aside budget  and helps you follow thru and stay on top of them to make sure it is there the first day of school each year.  You also can ask for a O& M Evaluation.  Our son had 2 hrs a day of TVI for k-2 and at 3 the second hr was worked into his class time, so that he was not pulled out during critical classes.  He starts his day with his TVI as soon as the bus stops before all the rest of the kids get off the bus.  While the other kid had not got off the bus yet or where getting breakfast.  He had in 45 minutes already that would not have to be pull out time.  And also again at the end of the day a rap up time.  
As for Technology.  Go for what he will need in the future.  So he is not learning and relearning screen readers.  Also get that work is to be to your TVI or Transcriber 2 wks ahead so his work is there when everyone else is.  This is a courteousy  to your TVI also, and they will thank you for having it in the IEP.  

With Technology you will want to stay a yr ahead so he has that yr to be learning it before he is needing it in the class room.  This also goes for Anything educational.  This yr in PK he should be reading and starting on contractions.  He will need them by 2 grade.
