[blindkid] CVI

In a general blindness sense, I think the best strategy would be to teach as many things as possible such that no vision is required at all. (Sort of like teaching O&M under sleep shades.) People of any age who rely on limited vision can get into a bind if their vision gets worse and they are more prone to frustration, accidents, and such-- especially when they are not aware that they are seeing less well now, as compared to the last time they did a particular thing.

As you may know, my daughter has no light perception so others can probably speak with a better reference as far as CVI and changing levels of vision, but I would just say that Kendra can do an awful lot of things at her age (age 8) with very little supervision and no vision at all. If you try to teach as much as possible to work with no need to rely on vision, then hopefully, any visual information he has can just be a "bonus".

I certainly wish Jack all of the most reliable vision possible, but having reduced vision (or even no vision) doesn't mean there are so many more things a child cannot do, it just means alternative techniques need to be used.

Jack is clearly unable to see as well as he usually does. So what I am used to being able to set him up with and go about my business is now a task that requires supervision or more assistance. And, of course, part of me is worried that it's something else like something shunt related.
