I went for a meeting with our bureau of blindness yesterday to "tell our story", and didn't hear or get the results I wanted, what I had wanted s someone to say sorry we haven't shown up to your house for your daughter. She was enrolled in their summer program however, no one ever showed up, on top of that the director looked me in the eye and stated that she was serving us. How?! There were individuals that said we need to educate the parents tell them whe to find the resources, well I do, but sometimes that costs money we don't have and they don't know what we go through for our kids to get what they need. It's always get the help and spend the time and money, or don't get the help at all.. On top of that in pa apparently services have been for the last fifteen years helping children in two other cities but not ours, why should ours lose out while the other children in those areas get the services?? Our program, so they say, has been running for five years here, and they can't show up to our house once in the summer for what was supposed to be my daughters summer program, instead she got nothing....except for the luck in finding a summer tvi, that I drve to Ohio for because they had no one else to serve her...and by the way she is awesome, my daughter learned more in the past month than the past year spent with her other tvi. What do you do when it's not you and just your area? Do you change your way of life? Had my daughter been born blind in those other two towns she would have been served...
