Dr. Denise Robinson has a great website - www.yourtechvision.com. Her site states "Education, instruction, and keystroke based lessons for blind/visually impaired/sighted people, teachers, parents and adults working with them." There are lessons that can be purchased for Mac/ITools and many items for free!

Subject: [blindkid] More Ipad questions

Hello all!
Tonight I spent some time with my son's Braille teacher. She is pretty much
totally without vision. She received an Ipad about a week ago, and she said
she has three questions:

1. How can this be used in the classroom with blind students?
2. Where can she get training on the Ipad?
3. How is the Ipad truly accessible to the blind?
and really 4. What features are most helpful to a blind person?

Can anyone help with these questions? I tried to help her as best I could.
I gave her a brief orientation to the basics: where the home button is,
where the charger chord goes, how to change the volume. The Ipad was
talking to us out of the box, but then it inexplicably stopped. She is
confused by the completely smooth screen, and the lack of the speech
feature didn't help.

I would love to be able to offer her some additional help! Maybe even
connect her with a different NFB listserv if anyone knows of one.

Thanks in advance!

:) Carolynn
